We’re pleased to announce that we’re sponsoring the Employer of the Year award at the Cambridge Independent Business Awards. This award recognises businesses showing outstanding commitment to their people and the communities they work in. 

Why have we chosen to sponsor this award?

Employee engagement is very close to our hearts here at Pure. It’s one of the reasons we started Best Employers Eastern Region, our employee engagement programme – to recognise and reward employers in our region going the extra mile for their people. So when we heard about the new Employer of the Year award, we knew we had to get involved. 

Here’s what David Culley, our Managing Director, had to say about the award. ‘I’m delighted to report that so many of Cambridge’s employers do put people first – that’s what’s fuelling the region’s continued growth. For this reason, we’re pleased to be sponsoring the Employer of the Year award. We’ll be looking for an organisation that demonstrates how they go above and beyond to attract and retain talent, and knows that success is the result of an engaged and motivated workforce.’ 

What are the Cambridge Independent Business Awards? 

This is the first year of these awards, which were created by the Cambridge Independent, a regional publication based in Cambridge. The awards are designed to publicly acknowledge businesses making outstanding contributions to both our region and its economy, to recognise their achievements and to showcase their successes. 

As well as the Employer of the Year, there are 13 other award categories, including Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year and the Green award. The awards are open to businesses of any size working in any sector, and nominations run from now until 12 July. It’s free to enter, and they’ll end with a gala to celebrate the winners in September, which will be held in the Great Hall at King’s College.
