HR Energy breakfast provides practical tips on equal pay

In the latest HR Energy event of the 2018 calendar, Pure and Mills & Reeve LLP hosted a breakfast session providing 30 HR professionals with the opportunity to hear from guest speakers on the topic of equal play.

HR Energy is a collaboration between Pure and Mills & Reeve, who deliver a series of events throughout the year as a forum to energise HR professionals; where they can share experiences, socialise and gain insights from industry experts.

Held on Wednesday 15th May at Mills & Reeve’s offices in Norwich, the event was hosted by Becky Wilson, Senior Managing Consultant at Pure and James Kidd, Partner at Mills & Reeve. They were joined by Paula Lee, a solicitor at Leigh Day and Patrick Gass, Principal Associate at Mills & Reeve. Together the guest speakers provided a greater understanding of equal pay and tips on what HR professionals need to consider. Patrick provided practical guidance on what employers can do to assess if they have an equal pay issue and then how to defend them, while Paula explained the tortured history of equal pay and shared case study examples to highlight why it affects all organisations.

One delegate commented: “The two different styles of presentation complimented each other very well. One focussed on actual examples, the other on process. This was very useful.”

Becky Wilson added: “We’ve been receiving some great feedback on our HR Energy events. Delegates say they enjoy them because they are relaxed and informal. They also appreciate the support as there isn’t anything else in Norfolk which is totally dedicated to the development of HR professionals.”

The HR Energy Events are a regular feature in Pure’s calendar of business events designed to develop talent in the region and support organisations to create innovative and engaging places to work. For more information about future HR Energy Events throughout the year visit prs.uk.com
