More aspiring female leaders graduate from Pure’s Women’s Leadership Programme

Pure is continuing to support organisations in the East of England to achieve the business benefits of gender equality with seven more women graduating from its highly successful Women’s Leadership Programme.

The innovative dual approach programme supports both aspiring female leaders and the organisations which employ them. Run by professional recruitment specialists Pure, in conjunction with strategic HR consultancy People & Performance, it helps women to strengthen their leadership skills and supports them to work with their employers in addressing any potential barriers to progression. The latest delegates of the four-day course, which also includes individual coaching sessions, were celebrated at a graduation event held at Bedford Lodge, Newmarket, on Thursday 4 May.

A recent report by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) showed that there is no difference in ambition levels between men and women when they first start out in their careers. But women only continue to aspire to leadership roles if they work in organisations which have positive work environments.”

The delegates and sponsors at the event heard from guest speaker Janet Scotcher, Director of HR & OD for the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge. Janet talked about the importance of women being able to extend their networks and connections, having the confidence to remain authentic and of proactively looking for opportunities to push themselves further.

Created in 2014, the Women’s Leadership Programme has now supported more than 65 aspiring female leaders in the region. The next course will begin in June and a part-funded place is available for an aspiring female leader working at a not-for-profit or smaller enterprise in the region. Sponsored by the Blossom Charity, which supports women in the East of England to be the best they can be, applications for the sponsored place are open to female managers and directors working within social enterprises, not-for-profit organisations, early stage start-ups and SMEs across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
