Half Marathon Challenge Raises Funds for The J’s Hospice

Chelmsford recruitment manager Ben Farrow completed his second half marathon on Sunday 6th October in order to raise money for the young adults charity J’s Hospice.

Ben, manager of Pure Resourcing Solution’s (Pure) Chelmsford office, raised an overall total of £572.50 for J’s Hospice who are a respite care and hospice service working with young adults aged between the ages of 18 and 40 in the Essex region. Pure have supported the J’s Hospice for nearly three years and during that time have held various fundraising events for the charity including running previous half marathons and holding an annual quiz night.

Back in March Ben ran the Colchester half marathon in aid of the J’s Hospice with Chelmsford HR Recruitment Consultant Sarah McKee-Harris. These 2 events have raised a fantastic £1,400 for the charity in 2013 alone. This time around Ben completed London’s Royal Parks Half Marathon in an impressive 1 hour 58 minutes which saw him beat his previous time by four minutes.

Ben,  said: “I completed the Colchester half marathon in just over two hours back in March and I was really keen to take on a new challenge to beat this. When such a fantastic charity like the J’s Hospice asked me to fundraise for them again and run in the Royal Parks I just couldn’t say no.”

“It was such a great feeling to take part in the event. There were over 16,000 runners as well as thousands of supporters and the morning sunshine made the views across London simply spectacular. It was a tough challenge, but it was well worth it to raise much needed funds -  thank you to everyone that sponsored me. I’m already thinking about my next challenge for J’s!”

The half marathon brings the total that Pure has raised for The J’s Hospice so far to around £5,000.
