Spotlight on Victoria Lumley

At Pure we like to do things differently and create a supportive environment for all our people. One where they can work flexibly, while also building a culture of teamwork. You don’t just have to take our word for it though – here’s senior recruitment consultant, Victoria Lumley, to share a bit about herself and what it’s like to work with us.

What do you do at Pure?

I specialise in accounting and finance recruitment. I focus on part-qualified assistant accountants up to qualified management accountants – typically people earning between £25,000 and £45,000.

What did you do before you joined Pure?

I graduated from Leeds University with a degree in politics in 2004. After that I worked in legal and medical recruitment, before joining a large national recruitment agency. I was there for eight years specialising in accountancy and finance. I then joined Pure in June 2021.

How did you find out about Pure? And what made you choose us over another employer?

I’d known about Pure for a long time as they were one of my previous employer’s competitors! I’d always heard good things about them – they have a great reputation in the marketplace. I’d often wondered what it would be like to work for them too. So when I started thinking about looking for something new, I decided it was worth having a conversation.

When I went for the interview I got a really great feeling from everyone I spoke to. They were welcoming, down to earth and professional. I also felt that Pure had similar values to my own. For example, they’re not just about fulfilling KPIs – Pure is interested in making clients’ and jobseekers’ recruitment journeys as easy as possible. That really appealed to me.

When you joined, what training did you do?

The training was great. I already had a lot of experience so it was more about refreshing my knowledge. It was very structured with a detailed induction plan, and remote meetings with the different Pure offices. The learning and development team were brilliant – nothing was too much trouble. They kept in constant contact with me to make sure there wasn’t anything more I needed. The system training was also excellent.

What do you like most about working at Pure?

I really enjoy the Pure culture. It’s such a great place to work – everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I also feel that Pure live and breathe their values, something which is really important to me. It doesn’t hurt that the earning potential is pretty good as well! And there are lots of opportunities for progression. I have to mention my team as well – they’re a really lovely bunch.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining Pure?

If you want to work at a company with strong values and ethics, don’t think twice. It’s an excellent company to work for – you won’t regret it.
