The pandemic has affected all our daily lives, particularly at work – whether that’s meant taking on more or less responsibility, being furloughed or even facing the dreaded redundancy.
Organisations across our region are also changing the way they recruit, and competition for roles has never been more fierce. All this means making the decision to change jobs – never an easy one at the best of times – is even more fraught with difficulty. So our role of supporting candidates and matching them to the right positions is even more vital.
Amanda, a payroll administrator, had been let go by her previous employer. The redundancy wasn’t handled well, and as a result her confidence was at an all-time low. She wanted to change career paths from accountancy to an admin role, but wasn’t sure where to start. So she came to Pure.
Amanda’s CV landed on the desk of Claire Bush, a senior recruitment consultant at our Norwich office. Claire’s been with us since 2011 and had previously spent over 12 years working for two prestigious consultancies in London. After getting to know Amanda, Claire understood that she was keen to stay away from finance and move into an admin role, but also that she was battling with her self-belief.
Within a week she’d found her a new job temping in office administration. As Amanda says: ‘Finance isn’t my field and I’d been wanting to get back into administration for a while. Pure helped me take the plunge. Claire kept me informed and supported through each stage which was invaluable. I lost my confidence and they’ve helped me get that back, and also get back to the work I love.’
