Great opportunity to work for a growing Pharmaceutical company as UK Accountant based in Cambridge.

The UK operations consist of scientists and bioinformaticians conducting early stage and preclinical drug discovery activities.

The UK Accountant will be responsible for administering the subsidiary’s accounting activities and providing the US parent company with accurate and timely reporting.  This position will have dual reporting to the UK subsidiary site head and the parent company’s US-based controller.

This role will include a number of activities ancillary to the accounting function, requiring an individual with a flexible mindset and the ability to rapidly adapt to shifting priorities and requirements. 



  • Perform, manage and provide leadership over day-to-day accounting functions, including cash accounts, accounts payable, journal entries and account reconciliations within established timelines
  • Prepare month-end account reconciliations including balance sheet reconciliations and income statement variance analysis
  • Manage the month-end close process to timely completion
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with UK generally accepted accounting principles including assisting US controller with any necessary adjustments to US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Coordinate with local auditor in UK statutory financial statement audit and assist US controller with US GAAP audit
  • Coordinate with external tax accountant in preparation of all required tax reporting requirements including income tax returns, VAT filings and UK research and development credit
  • Establish an internal control environment to ensure safeguarding of assets and accurate financial reporting
  • Manage tracking and reporting of employee/consultant labor allocations across multiple R&D projects including presenting analysis of spending by project to the scientific and management leadership teams
  • Work closely with the US controller and CFO in the preparation of annual budgets and reporting on actual versus budget performance
  • Oversee the procurement-to-pay process including requisition process and issuance of purchase orders and ensuring compliance of actual spend to purchase order limits
  • Manage the UK payroll and pension processes

You will be a Qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA , CIMA  or equivalent with In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP, including working knowledge of financial disclosure requirements.
