Pure are working with an exciting organisation based in Southend who are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager. join their team.
The role will to manage and deliver a high-quality, proactive payroll service ensuring it is proactive, effective, efficient and people centric for circa 500 staff members. The payroll is under one PAYE reference number, and is grouped into one payroll with 7 payroll units. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for:
• Lead and manage the payroll function.
• Prepare and process the payroll processes for all employed across the business on a monthly basis.
• Prepare and submit of all monthly and end of year statutory returns to HMRC and pension schemes.
• Ensure compliance with current PAYE, NI and other payroll related legislation adhering to relevant deadlines.
• Provide accurate and up to date information regarding all payroll activity both now and future.
Qualifications:
Ideally fully CIPP Qualified and a current active member of the CIPP.
Demonstrable appropriate level of experience and evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role
Experience:
Experience of managing a high performing payroll function.
Experience in providing expert advice and guidance on a wide-range of payroll matters to all levels of management and in responding to these.
Experience of leading and managing day to day administrative support in payroll matters including the whole employee lifecycle.
Experience in managing, advising and coaching teams on all payroll matters.
Experience of using data and reporting to inform business reporting, to support managers and senior leaders and drive best practice.
Experience in writing and developing payroll processes, policies and procedures.
Knowledge & Skills:
Up to date working knowledge of statutory requirements affecting PAYE, Defined Benefits Pension schemes and benefit structure .
A strong understanding of manual and computerised payroll systems and principles.
Ability to use HR systems to report write and manipulate people payroll data for strategic purposes.
Understanding of budget overview and reading people budget data for HR practice and advice.
Understanding of personal information, GDPR and employer requirements in accordance with data protection.
