Now is an exciting time to join the University of Cambridge. A number of programmes of work are underway which will transform the way in which business support functions interact with each other and interface with service delivery teams.
Within Finance, an ERP system review, improvements to the budget setting process and new designs for financial planning are all major projects already under way. The role of Head of Group Financial Reporting will make a significant contribution to the successful outcomes of these projects. You will interface proactively and collegiately with key stakeholders across the University and its multiple trading entities to ensure the systems redesign allows for the seamless production of consolidated group financial reporting.
This post is ultimately responsible for financial reporting on behalf of the University and the consolidated University group. With annual income in excess if £2bn, more than 40 subsidiary companies & charities and net assets of £5.1bn, the technical complexity of this role is high, as is the importance of maintaining excellent relationships with a network of influential stakeholders.
You will lead a small team of technical accountants, planning and coordinating the annual project to deliver Group financial statements, preparing the annual budgets and producing monthly accounts tracking the financial position of the Academic University.
We are looking for an empathetic leader who will steward the Group Reporting function; not necessarily being the technical expert but to ensure expertise exists within the team and to build the relationships with the wider University to ensure all contributors to the group function feel supported to upload their data promptly and in the right format.
