I am recruiting for an Electronics Commodity Buyer to join my client near Wymondham.  This is a full time, permanent position and an immediate start is available for the right candidate.  

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be an integral part of the Procurement team and have the responsibility for ensuring all business requirements for the electronics team are managed efficiently and effectively in relation to the engineering led requirements and supplier capability and capacity.  


Daily duties include: 

  • Design and implement robust buying models that aid in future negotiations and ways of working with the supply base.  
  • Building strong relationships with external stakeholders 
  • Source, analyse and effectively communicate opportunities to gain manufacturing effiiciencies through process, procedures and material costings. 
  • Be aware of raw material market trends
  • Support engineering teams to ensure optimal parts, materials, manufacturing and suppliers are chosen to deliver end business requirements 
  • Ensure the organisation is operating effectively 
  • Be the go to person for support and guidance on parts and commodity 
  • Carry out reviews with key suppliers as and when required 
  • Attend supplier visits globally and undertake audits 
  • Continuously monitor and improve processes and the function of the department 
  • Deliver optimal parts ownership in to the business for the commodity 
  • Responsibility for future direction of commodity within projects 
  • Any other duties required by the Procurement Manager 

Is this for you?  

The ideal candidate will be process driven with the ability to enhance, improve and develop processes as the business grows.  You will need to have exceptional attention to detail and be capable of working under pressure.  Commercial awareness is a must along with the understanding the market and the drivers that impact sourcing and supply.  You will need experience in creating, developing and managing effective commodity strategies and have strong understanding of SLAs, contracts and contract conditions.  

As well as the above, the below is ideally required: 

  • Degree in Business, Accountancy or Economics or extensive proven experience in electronics commodity management 
  • Proven experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment 
  • Proven mechanical supply chain experience 
  • Resilience, flexibility and ambition to develop 

Working hours are on site 8:30am-5pm and holiday is 25 days plus bank holidays.  You will be expected to travel both nationally and global as part of this role.
