I am currently recruiting a Group Consolidation and Reporting Manager on behalf of the University of Cambridge. Now is an exciting time to join the University of Cambridge. A number of programmes of work are underway which will transform the way in which business support functions interact with each other and interface with service delivery teams. Within Finance, an ERP system review, improvements to the budget setting process and new designs for financial planning are all major projects already under way.


The post holder is responsible for the preparation of the monthly management accounts, consolidation of annual financial statements for the University and Annual Financial return (AFR). The post holder will be an expert on the financial systems supporting the Academic University and will work as part of the team to ensure that the consolidation of the wider University group is efficiently delivered and in accordance with all required deadlines.


It is the responsibility of the Finance Division to manage the financial resources of the University and within the Finance Division it is the responsibility of the Financial Reporting team to manage the reporting for the University which accounts for £2.1bn of revenue in 2019-20 and reflects the activities of the Academic University, Cambridge University Press and Assessment and over 40 subsidiaries and Trusts across multiple geographical locations. The Financial Reporting team is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the accounting records, establishing, leading on and maintaining best practice and for producing both statutory accounts and management information to assist in decision-making at all levels of the University.


The post holder will be well organised and a strong communicator as a key aspect of the role will be the setting of month end and year end timetables, clarifying the key reporting requirements and deliverables. This role will also contribute to the ongoing development of the consolidation system for the Group which is at the leading edge of best practice and fulfils the requirements of all areas of compliance under OfS guidelines, FRS 102 and the Statements of Recommended Practice for Higher and Further Education Institutions as well as Charities. This role will also work with the Head of Central & Research Accounting to successfully transition the appropriate subsidiary accounts production and ongoing governance and monitoring of subsidiary reporting to ensure the most effective and efficient process and identify and implement other value-added ways of working and better split of activities between the Financial Reporting team and the Central & Research Accounting team.


You will be a fully qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
