I am recruiting for a new position for my client based in Norwich. This is a full time, permanent position.
Supporting the Procurement Manager, this role is for a Buyer to support the Procurement Manager and the wider business in managing supplier performance, gathering market intelligence and insight and execution of contracts and stock management.

Key duties and responsibilities:
- Operating ethically in all business activities with a high standard of service, professionalism and integrity.
- Support the development of and management of a sustainable procurement and buying strategy across the business
- Working with the Procurement Manager and others for sourcing, tendering, negotiation, contract preparation, contract management and supplier relationships across the business.
- Promote Supplier Relationship Management and actively engage with key suppliers
- Work with internal customers to optimise supplier base
- Identify, evaluate and develop new sources of supply to improve the company's competitiveness.
- Lead cross functional activity to highlight opportunities for cost reduction, supplier optimisation and added value.
- Ensure procurement cost savings are achieved or surpassed in accordance with annual targets
- Gain and maintain a high level of knowledge in all relevant market areas
- Provide market information to the business
- Ensure continuity of supply of goods and services to the company
- Identify, evaluate and develop new sources of supply for existing and new requirements to improve the company's competitiveness.
- Assist the Procurement Manager in the development and implementation of procurement policies, procedures and strategies.

- Experience working within Procurement or dealing directly with suppliers
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Project management experience
- Excellent MS Office package skills
As well as the above, the below would be an advantage:
- A background in manufacturing and engineering procurement
- CIPS Professional Diploma
- Experienced of Microsoft Dynamics
- An awareness of chemical regulatory issues
- Understanding of local, national and international regulations as they apply to a UK manufacturing location.
