This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Purchasing Team of a growing business based near Ely. Prior experience in Buying or Procurement and working with an MRP system is essential. This role has a particular focus on maintaining data quality and developing improved controls and procedures. The role provides an opportunity to develop within the Company very quickly.

Job Purpose
- Ensuring ordering what the Co needs to ensure there is sufficient stock to meet forecast demand whilst managing working capital efficiently.
- Continually improve the reliability of supply, to enable reduced stockholdings, whilst at the same time having stock available to sell.
- Maintain and continually improve cost data used for selling price decisions.
- Work with the Head of Purchasing to develop and implement a best practice purchasing strategy relevant to the needs of the business.
Principal Accountabilities
- Processing and sending purchase orders
- Following up orders and providing regular status updates for delivery schedules
- Researching into potential suppliers
- Monitoring stock allocations/ levels and reporting low stock to ensure that production requirements can be met
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure that lead times are met
- Timely communication with suppliers
- Keeping up to date with environmental and regulatory requirements
- Checking recent market trends and product availability
- Maintenance of data for Safety Stocks, Lead times, commodity codes and MOQs as well as forecasts for each selling item.
- Liaise with both sales and marketing to ensure their input is accounted for in the provision of products and forecasts used to develop demand plans.
- Stock may be held in multiple locations. Ensure this is properly controlled, and that advantage is taken of holding stock in the cheapest location.
- Monitor slow moving and excess stocks and work with company staff, the senior management team and the CFO/ MD to reduce these.
- Review and ensure timely maintenance of Bills of material held in Netsuite including impact on stock valuation.
- Ensuring that ethical and sustainable solutions are adopted
- Work with warehouse managers to ensure integrity of stock quantity data and that robust inventory count procedures are completed on a timely basis.
- Become accountable for all International and Local import procedures and processes and ensure the preparation of accurate import documents for each container and forward to import agent.
- Processing shipping related documentation to ensure that transactions are recorded on a timely basis.
