Salary£35000 - £45000 per annum
The Application Developer will work within our established Technology Team.  The role will focus on the development, maintenance and management of innovative applications, including web applications and processes that support and enhance the operation of services across the Provide group of companies.
The Application Developer will work closely with the Information Systems Developer, colleagues in the Technology Team and Provide Digital.  An important part of the role will be working closely with and provision of expert advice to Provide’s Marketing and Communication Team who will set the scope for some of the web developments and design of communications tools.
Operational or Strategic Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, develop web application to support internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Take on larger projects where you'll need to co-ordinate the division of tasks with colleagues and drive the overall project to completion
  • Maintain process quality and robustness through coding best practice, including version control, documentation and peer review
  • Develop new features, enhance existing features, and implement bug fixes in existing code
  • Rapidly prototype new ideas, concepts, and designs
  • Self-document development processes, conduct peer reviews, and give actionable feedback
  • Design and build tools and frameworks to automate development, testing deployment, management and monitoring of the company's services and products
  • Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Build and test Application Program Interfaces (APIs) integrations for applications to exchange data.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business leads on new technology and data driven solutions
  • Planning of specialist projects which may impact across multiple clinical and non-clinical departments
  • Designing, building and managing website front and back-end including database and server integration for business services.
  • Performing regular housekeeping tasks which will include:
    • Maintenance of systems and environments together with testing.
    • Monitoring of systems for irregularities and issues.
    • Update of security features.
  • Regularly undertakes testing and adaption of applications.
  • Act as an escalation route and a source of expertise where the service desk cannot resolve the call due to its complexity.
  • Ensuring recording of all work in line with the organisation’s procedures, ensuring all work is appropriately approved and authorised through the change control processes.
  • Management and delivery of technical solutions which involves:
    • Complex facts or situations requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options
    • Plan and organise complex technical activities with internal teams and external suppliers.  These plans require adjustment in response to outcomes
    • Provide and receive highly complex information and liaise with staff at all levels to interpret requirements and explain technical issues and developments.
    • Producing specifications for required software and applications
    • Provide training on the use of new software.
    • Liaison with multiple technical teams, manufacturers and 3rd parties to ensure the successful delivery of technical solutions.
  • To ensure deployments of new software and processes meets the organisations standards and procedures.
  • Resolution of business and administrative issues and problems in own area of work.
  • Investigate complex IT issues and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Identify tickets that regularly arise from lack of user knowledge and feedback details of the required training and help develop the training materials where appropriate.
