Pure’s quiz in Basildon raises over £1460 for Essex charities J’s Hospice and Kids Inspire

The team from professional recruitment specialists Pure’s Chelmsford office hosted their annual charity quiz night in Basildon on Thursday 25th April and raised over £1468 for Essex based charities J’s Hospice and Kids Inspire.

The annual fundraising event brings local businesses together for a battle of the brains which has become renowned for its playful rivalry between local organisations. Eighteen teams took part and pitted their wits against each other to be crowned the Essex 2019 quiz champions. The teams included people from Hallmark Care Homes, Birkett Long and Elco Heating Services Ltd. The overall winners were a team from Sure Serve who were presented with a bottle of Champagne each.

The quiz night, held at the Holiday Inn at Festival Leisure Park, also included a raffle to help raise further funds for the two charities. Prizes were donated by local businesses including a gin distillery tour, a NutriBullet and a signed cricket bat.

Ben Farrow, Director and Manager of Pure’s Chelmsford office, said: “Our annual charity quiz is one of the main fundraising activities we hold as part of our commitment to supporting and taking part in the communities that surround us. The friendly competition between local businesses makes the event a lot of fun and I’d like to thank everyone who attended, donated and contributed to the event. We have developed strong connections with these fantastic charities and we are proud to be able to support the excellent work they do.”

The funds raised were secured through the entry fee for each team and raffle ticket sales. The full amount will be equally split between the two charities which Pure has regularly supported including raising over £1,500 at last year’s charity quiz night.

J’s Hospice, based in Witham, provides respite and hospice care services for young adults aged between 16 and 40 who are suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Chelmsford-based Kids Inspire provides mentoring, therapy, training and activity packages to empower children and the adults around them, following traumatic situations. Pure’s Chelmsford team also recently donated 40 Easter eggs to J’s Hospice, to be given out to the children which the charity supports.
