I am recruiting an indirect Tax and Accounting specialist for a global technology business based in Cambridge. The company are looking for talented candidates who have had dealings with indirect tax duties in a previous role. This position will report into the Tax Manager and will support them with day to day tax related tasks aswell as general accounting duties.

The business have state of the art offices, on site parking and an excellent benefits scheme. Due to Covid the company are currently working from home but a return to the office is likely to be made later on this year.

Candidates will ideally have the following experience:
• Indirect tax reporting
• University Education in Accounting, Business, Economics or related studies (Desirable)
• ATT, CTA or studying towards (Desirable)
• Excellent numeracy and administrative skills
• Proficient in the use of Excel
• Highly numerical with good attention to detail and a mindset to challenge and improve existing processes

The main duties of the role are as follows:
• To look after group Indirect Tax compliance and associated administrative activities
• To report US sales and use tax returns to the revenue authorities
• To prepare and submit UK VAT and EC Sales returns
• To prepare and submit subsidiary indirect tax returns
• To ensure timely payment of all indirect taxes to the respective tax administration
• To ensure that the system configuration is in place to drive correct tax rate
• To reconcile the system reports to returns submitted and payments made
• To implement adequate checks and controls necessary for correct and timely submission of the returns
• Extracting accounting and financial data needed to prepare the returns
• Reconciling the figures to accounting ledgers
• Raising payment requests and gaining the necessary internal approvals
• Implementing internal tax controls and maintaining tax compliance tracker
• Escalating issues and concerns to the head of tax or finance managers, as appropriate
• Undertake UK and foreign VAT return

This is an excellent role for someone who has touched on some adhoc Tax duties in a broader role. It would also suit someone in the early stages of their tax qualifications.
