An exciting new role has arisen working for a rapidly growing commercial business looking to recruit for their first HR professional to set up an HR function from scratch. The business has offices in Brentwood and in the city (close to Liverpool street) and you will need to be comfortable with travelling to the two locations.

They are a forward thinking and innovative business that need someone who is an experienced HR generalist who has strong experience in recruitment, learning and development and employee relations.

Duties and responsibilities will include;

• Responsibility for the recruitment and onboarding of new members of staff
• Sourcing candidates through agencies and our own advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, offer letters, contracts and referencing etc
• Inducting all new staff members and managing their probation
• Maintain HR files and employee records this will cover everything from onboarding and extensive referencing and employment checks through to leaver documentation and exit interviews
• Work closely with all department heads to ensure that our staff are being managed correctly including 121s, appraisals and identifying training requirements
• Provide functional and practical support to line managers who are new to staff management
• Manage all People related systems including an audit of our current software and a potential tender process for a replacement if needed
• Offer support and coaching to all members of staff with line management responsibility to ensure continued strategic success
• Take responsibility for all HR projects and work autonomously to manage them end to end

Skills and experience required

• CIPD Level 5 or equivalent
• Proven generalist HR experience in a commercial business
• Excellent time management skills and an ability to work under pressure
• Experience of setting up an HR function from scratch or working in a stand alone role would be an advantage
• Good understanding of employment law including equality and diversity
