HR Seminar... Jan 2009 Seminar Highlights HR Impact on Businesses Locally
Human Resources professionals from Suffolk and Essex attended a seminar held on 29th January looking at the role of HR in organisations regionally. The seminar was organised by Pure Resourcing Solutions, East Anglia's leading independent recruitment consultancy for professional services. The event was an informal opportunity to share experiences and provided a forum to examine how HR impacts business in different types of organisations. Overall the seminar proved to be a great success, and the feedback from delegates was that it was a really interesting and useful event. "We were delighted to have such a diverse mix of delegates and speakers who really made the topic their own and we hope to run many similar events in the future." Said Lynn Walters, Director of Pure Resourcing Solutions who have an office in Queen Street, Ipswich.
The keynote speaker was Sarah Meelan, Director of HR and Estates at the University Campus Suffolk. Sarah provided a rare insight into the development at the University and discussed the cultural changes that have affected the staff on campus. The conference was chaired by Brian England, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Head of Colchester and Ipswich Group and Director of Blue Star Human Resources. Other speakers included Caroline Cotterell, formerly Group HR Manager with Greene King and Julian Baume, HR Manager at Thompson Smith and Puxon Solicitors. Within the heading of "How HR impacts and influences business" they explored and discussed their own experiences within their market and how their role has impacted their business overall.
£250 was raised by the event and was donated to East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH), Pure Resourcing Solution's chosen local charity. The team at Pure Resourcing Solutions has undertaken a variety of fundraising events over the last five years including trekking in Peru, parachute jumps and running the London Marathon, which have raised over £12,000 for the charity.
